The Third Eye

Somewhere in mid-2007 I was introduced to my first game of paintball. In particular the genre of tournament paintball known as speedball. When I first saw the game being played I knew that this game would look great in photographs. It was just so dynamic and often at times just plain simple eye-candy for the camera.

I still remember the first tournament I ever shot. It was the Johor Bahru Paintball Fitness Paintball Championship. Most of the time I shot from outside of the net but when I was finally cleared to shoot in the field I very quickly lost my filter and got the front element of my lens scratched from a direct hit. Still, it was a great learning experience and having paint pellets being fired out of electronic markers(paintball guns) chronographed at 300ft/sec flying in your direction was something else all together.

Since then I have been covering the major leagues in Malaysia, primarily the Malaysia Paintball Official Circuit (MPOC) and the Malaysian National Paintball League (MY-NPL) and not forgetting the World Cup Asia. Along the way there were smaller tournaments and feeder events as well as paintball clinics held around the region. Basically, it meant just about every month I was traveling covering tournaments and such. Residentevilchef.com took off in a way that I would never have imagined.

It has been a tremendous journey full of ups and downs. Thankfully more ups than downs but more importantly the friends that I have made along the way and the opportunity to see and experience Malaysia has been incredible.
